United in our mutual passion for Jiu Jitsu and our commitment to transformative leadership, we’ve been instrumental in driving positive change both on and off the mat.

Tony Passos

has dedicated himself to the development of his students, affiliates and clients both on and off the mat. He is a fourth degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under Ricardo de la Riva, Co-Founder of Team Passos Jiu Jitsu and personal coach. Tony started training Jiu-Jitsu at 18 years old in his hometown of Recife, Brazil and began teaching in 2002.


He brings a wealth of experience from running successful academies and coaching some of the top Jiu Jitsu players in the world. His work as the Programs Director of DreamRoot Leadership Institute and his involvement in various church leadership roles fuel his passion for nurturing leaders and world-changers.

Amy Passos

is passionate about merging business and training to drive progress and embodies the entrepreneurial spirit. As the Executive Director of DreamRoot Leadership Institute, Founder of Pitanga Consulting Group, and Co-Founder of Team Passos Jiu Jitsu, she enthusiastically brings over twenty years of expertise in business leadership, startups, and organizational development.    


Amy holds a M.A. in global affairs with a concentration in economics and development, a B.S. in business administration, and a certificate in Organizational Development.

George Wehby

is a BJJ Black Belt with over three decades training in martial arts. He brings over 20 years of knowledge, skills and experience in military, law enforcement, and security fields. 

George is the Owner and Head Instructor of The Lion Heart Academy. He brings a wealth of knowledge in small business management, logistics, and sales. As a jiu jitsu leader he brings a varied and creative teaching and instructional skills to the mat. 

Josh Pike

is a BJJ Black Belt and specializes in class facilitation, academy culture, program development, and student relations. Josh began teaching in and quickly realized that he had a passion to help others grow and succeed in life through Jiu Jitsu.  Josh loves training BJJ because it can allow us to achieve anything in life.


Josh graduated with a degree in kinesiology from the University of Pennsylvania.

Andrew Potocko

believes in the power of hospitality to engage members in a community. He has years of experience as a jiu jitsu academy manager and BJJ instructor. He leverages his strengths in the areas of membership sales, student relations, and operational processes. He is passionate about teaching, helping people feel welcome, and connecting others with the people and tools that will help them succeed.

Andrew is a BJJ black belt, the academy manager at Team Passos Jiu Jitsu, and holds a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland.

Jason Montoya

is a BJJ brown belt with many years experience successfully running adults and kids classes. He has contributed to his home academy’s growth through improved branding and marketing techniques.

His passion and areas of expertise lies in branding. He firmly believes that a strong brand identity is a foundational pillar for success in any business and the world of BJJ is no exception. He has developed a keen eye for crafting compelling brand stories and effectively communicating the unique values that set an academy apart.
